The best and only extensive reading about the Taoist paintings of the Yao cultural groups is «Yao Ceremonial Paintings» by scholar Jacques Lemoine, published by White Lotus, Bangkok (ISBN: 9748495019), and collector Jess G. Pourret dedicates a whole chapter in his book about the Yao groups: «The Yao» published by RiverBooks, Bangkok (ISBN: 9748225526). However these two books are out of print and now difficult to find.

We present on this page a set that has already been sold. It has been kept here in order to illustrate what a complete series should look like, together with the names of the characters represented in each painting.

I strongly recommend visiting the Musée de l’Avallonnais, in the Yonne department of France. It occupies the entire upper floor of the institution with more than 2,500 pieces, making it the only museum in the world to present such a large and specialized collection devoted to the Yao.
