In this section you will find three main types of earrings:
– Gold earrings from ancient Javanese kingdoms (see history), in nowadays indonesia, dating from the 8th to 13th centuries.
– Bronze earrings from the ancient Khmer empire dating probably from the same period in time. We could not find any reading matter on this subject on the Net nor do we know if anything has been published. It seems strange that people could wear such a heavy weight on the lobe of their ears and it has been suggested that they could have been made for adorning the ears of statues. However others are of more reasonable sizes, covered with a layer of gold, and these have undoubtedly been worn by people.
– Finally those of the last type are of a wearable size, in gold or silver, and come from various ethnic groups of Asia.
