Nepalese Vishnu NE61
Votive or architectural copper-alloy repoussé plaque depicting four-armed Vishnu. He stands frontally within a stylized aureole, wearing a jeweled crown and ornaments, with flowing garments rendered in low relief. He holds a lotus (padma) in the lower right hand, symbol of purity and awakening, then. clockwise: the conch (shankha), the mace (gada) and the wheel of life (chakra). Mounting holes indicate the piece was intended for shrine or architectural use. Surface wear and patina consistent with age and devotional handling. It is fixed on a poplar burl base.
Nepal or Tibet.
Circa 18th century or older.
11.5 mm high x 10 cm wide. Its stand is 18.5 cm high.
